Just with the release of Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones were released, the developers became busy in providing us with the stuff that the Pixel phones have and introducing them to the other devices. We already have seen that the Google assistant and the new dialer have been introduced within the Pixel series too in the Android version and these apps are for anyone to try today.
Many other apps that are set to be introduced for other phones via the Pixel devices are already in testing phases and might be released soon. But one of the dump that hasn’t been released yet for the devices is the Google Camera v4.2.
The reason for this is that this app requires Android Nougat 7.1 which even though hasn’t been released yet but is supposed to be out soon for the devices that are already mentioned in the list. The Pixel phones have this app by default while as the Nexus series is supposed to receive in near future.
But we know, you can’t wait. So the XDA team has already released the app (given below) which is confirmed to run on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P which run Android Nougat 7.0 even. This app will provide you with features like Manual Exposure, new UI grid option and long press for locking the exposure/focus.
You must keep in mind that it is a modification of the default Google camera app that runs on Google Pixel so that you can run it on Non-Pixel devices easily. Many modifications are still being done and you must note that this app will not work over the existing camera app.
Also you must know that the app doesn’t work on Non-Nexus devices too, so you don’t need to install it on your devices if they have unofficial Nougat running on them because it doesn’t work on unofficial builds.
You can download the APK from here:
We’ve gathered some screenshots of the app to show you how it is built.
